Sweden gender reassignment for minors

How do you feel about Sweden passing a law lowering age to legally change gender from 18 to 16? 

I am transgender myself and while I advocate for trans people. A decision to transition requires a lot of thought, which I doubt a minor aged 16 is capacited for. 

With the boom of TikTok, it's easy for a minor to irrationally want to transition and later regret it. I think 18 was okay. 🤷

I support gender reassignment for minors but when it comes to minors, I have doubts. I think people have to be 18+ to make such a decision.

However, when it comes to minors, I believe it's essential to proceed with caution.

While I believe in affirming and supporting their identities, I also recognize that minors may not have the maturity or understanding to fully grasp the implications of such a significant decision. 

It's about finding a balance between respecting their identities and ensuring that decisions made are informed and appropriate for their stage of development.

Ultimately, the well-being and protection of minors must be prioritized, while also affirming their identities in a responsible and thoughtful manner.

I am strong advocate for supporting transgender individuals in their journey of self-discovery and transition.

But when it comes to minors, I believe it's crucial to approach the topic with caution and care. While affirming their gender identity is important, we must also consider their age and cognitive development.

Minors may not have the full understanding or maturity to make irreversible decisions about transitioning. It's about safeguarding their well-being while also respecting their identities. 

Supportive environments and access to resources for exploration and education are essential for minors as they navigate their gender identity.
